Susan Faust has been engaged in the pursuit of artistic expression for as long as she can remember. Excelling in art as a child Susan chose to pursue a career in ceramics after graduation from West Virginia Wesleyan with a BA in fine arts in 1973. Susan became a master potter and was Artist in Residence for the state of West Virginia from 1975- 1977. Thousands of pots later and hundreds of craft shows under her belt Susan headed west in 1986 for new horizons and to pursue a dream of being a painter. She landed in Sedona Arizona and became the head of the ceramics department at The Sedona Art Center from 1987 to 1999. During that time Susan painted as much as possible and studied with acclaimed artists and teachers. In 1994 Susan began teaching pastel classes at the art center as well as teaching workshops around the country. In 1999 Susan left the desert to live in the Pacific Northwest and spent ten years painting the lush and green landscape en plein air. in 2014 she became focused on abstract work inspired by landscape.  

She is the recipient of numerous awards in American and International exhibitions and is a featured plein air pastel artist in the PBS television series, "The Artist's Workshop". Susan was a featured artist in the June, 2000 issue of Pastel Artist International Magazine. She has taught workshops throughout the country and in Europe and has taught as an invited international instructor in Australia. She is a member of Oil Painters of America, The Pastel Society of America , The Northwest Pastel Society and is a signature member of Plein Air Painters of New Mexico. She has won numerous awards and her work hangs in collections through out the country. She makes her home in Port Townsend, Washington and is represented by Howard Mandville Gallery in Kirkland Washington.
